How To Get More People On The Lot? I'm working at a new car dealership. I am a sales consultant. I'm going to school for Computer Science, not Marketing and Advertising, thus I am in need of some advice on how I, with very little budget, can get A) more people to come to the lot, and/or B) more people to come see me. My GM does the Craigslist, Autotrader, television commercials and newspaper ads so that is covered. What else? Any off beat/creative things I could do? Anything I can do to supplement the advertising? Thanks a bunch! car insurance.

Ram . How to Set the Timing on a 1985 Plymouth Horizon

The 1985 Plymouth Horizon was built with a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine. The ignition timing of the internal combustion engine determines when a spark will fire in the engine. The ignition timing for the 1985 Plymouth Horizon is 12 degrees. You can adjust the ignition timing to make sure it is accurate or you can adjust it to your preference. Be careful when working around moving engine parts and don't deviate too far from the factory-recommended 12 degrees when adjusting the ignition timing.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Timing light
Wrench
Wheel chocks

Step by Step :
1
Park your car in an area with space to work on the engine. Let the engine idle and turn off all accessories including the radio and air conditioning/heat.
2
Use wheel chocks to chock the wheels of your car for safety purposes. Put the transmission in neutral and firmly set the emergency brake. Bring the engine to an idle speed of 850 rpm if you have an automatic transmission and 1,000 rpm if you have a manual transmission.
3
Exit the vehicle with the emergency brake firmly engaged and open the hood of your car.
4
Attach the red clip of the timing light to the positive terminal of the car battery. Attach the black clip of the timing light to the negative battery terminal. Then, connect the timing light to the number 1 spark plug and the main crankshaft pulley.
5
Observe the timing mark on the pulley to check the ignition timing. Continue on to the next step if you would like to adjust the timing. Otherwise, if the timing is acceptable, disconnect the timing light cables, close the hood and remove the wheel chocks.
6
Loosen the distributor lock-down bolt with a wrench and then disconnect the distributor vacuum hose from the distributor housing. Plug the distributor vacuum hose into the electronic spark computer and ground the carburetor switch with jumper cables.
7
Rotate the distributor until the timing mark on the pulley falls to 12 degrees.
8
Unplug the distributor vacuum hose from the electronic spark computer and reconnect it to the distributor housing. Tighten the distributor lock-down bolt with your wrench and remove the jumper cable from the carburetor switch. Remove the timing light cables and close the hood. Remove the wheel chocks from your wheels.

Ram . How to Time a Nissan Z24

The 1990 Nissan Datsun pickup truck comes equipped with Nissan's Z24 engine. The last year of production for this engine was 1990. Performing an ignition timing check as part of your routine maintenance will help you keep this older engine running smoothly. The ignition timing on the Z24 engine is 15 degrees but it can be adjusted a little over or under, depending on your preference. You will need to be careful not to damage any of the engine parts. In addition, keep your hair, clothing, jewelry and hands free of fan blades and other moving parts under the hood as you are adjusting the ignition timing.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Timing light
Wrench
Wheel chocksHow to Set the Ignition Timing on a Z24 Engine

Step by Step :
1
Park your Datsun pickup or other Nissan vehicle with the Z24 engine. Make sure all accessories are turned off in the vehicle.
2
Chock the wheels of the vehicle using wheel chocks. Put the transmission in neutral and set the emergency brake. Bring the engine to a warm idle speed of 750 rpm for an automatic transmission or 800 rpm for a manual transmission.
3
Exit the vehicle and open the hood to access the Z24 engine.
4
Connect the red clip of the timing light to the positive terminal of the car battery and connect the black clip to the negative terminal. Connect the timing light to the No. 1 spark plug and the main crankshaft pulley.
5
Observe the timing mark on the pulley to check your engine's current ignition timing. If the timing is acceptable, remove the timing light cables, close the hood, remove the wheel chocks and turn off the engine.
6
Locate the lock-down bolt on the distributor if you wish to adjust the ignition timing. This bolt should be located at the base of the distributor housing. Loosen the lock-down bolt with a wrench and disconnect the distributor vacuum hose from the distributor housing.
7
Rotate the distributor with your hand until the timing mark on the pulley matches the desired timing. The factory recommendation is 15 degrees, so you should not deviate much from that setting.
8
Tighten the lock-down bolt with your wrench and reconnect the distributor vacuum hose to the distributor housing. Remove the timing light cables, close the hood and remove the wheel chocks. Turn off the engine.

In either case, you're better off leaving the repairs to a professional. A! ? C Part IV: Dealing with On-the-Road Emergencies. For i/ehictes ufith carburetors 1. Look down the carburetor barrel and push the accelerator pump arm. Is fuel squirting into the venturi? If so, then the float bowl is full, but it still may not be getting a fresh supply of fuel when it needs it. 2. Disconnect the fuel pump end of the hose that leads from the carburetor to the fuel pump (see Figure 21-2) and place the end of the hose in ajar or plastic bag. If you don't have anything to put the hose in, forget this entire procedure. Never let gasoline run onto the ground. It's flammable and toxic to the environment. Also, be sure not to let gasoline run out of the hose onto your clothes or the engine. And if it's very hot, fan the area to disburse the fumes. Somewhere along that line is the fuel filter. The filter could have jammed — especially if it hasn't been changed in ages. 956 Car Insurance cadillac escalade esv 2009 184309

Figure 21-2: A hose runs from the fuel To fuel tank pump to the carburetor. To carburetor 3. Bump the starter and see whether gasoline squirts out of the hose. If it does, then your fuel filter and fuel pump are probably all right. If nothing comes out of the hose, you probably have either a plugged fuel filter, a defective fuel pump, or a broken fuel line — or you're out of gas. 4. Try to eliminate the fuel filter as the villain by removing it (Chapter 13 tells you how) to see whether gas comes out of the hose. If you changed the filter recently, ignore this step and look under the rear end of the car to see whether fuel is leaking from a broken fuel line. .Chapter 21: What to Do If Your Car Drops Dead or Won't Start Fire If your engine is getting enough air and fuel, you're probably having ignition system trouble. As I explain in Chapter 4, the "fire" is really electric current that's stored in the battery, replaced by the alternator, amplified by the coil and, in some vehicles, directed by a distributor to each spark plug. (Newer vehicles have distributorless ignition systems — Chapter 5 has the details.) If something along the way goes wrong and the spark fails to reach the plugs, all the air and fuel in the world won't produce combustion in the cylinders, and the vehicle won't go. Because the engine was running before it died, it's probably not the fault of the battery, solenoid, or starter, which brings you to the distributor cap — assuming that your vehicle has one. If you have a distributorless system, you'll need professional help to check it out. Checking the distributor cap

Ram . What is a yellow flag in racing considered?

yellow is the symbol of caution. Toyota Tundra Access Cab.

With the engine off, check to see whether the cables that run from the distributor cap to the spark plugs are pushed down securely at each end. Check the cable that runs from the distributor cap to the coil to be sure that it, too, is secure. How about the smaller wires that come out of the coil? Because many cars now have high-energy ignition systems that operate at 47,000 volts or higher, pulling a distributor or spark plug cable to test for a spark is unsafe. If your car has an electronic ignition system, the ignition module may have gone bad. If you have an electronic ignition system or a distributorless ignition system, skip the rest of the checks in this section. If your car has a non-electronic ignition system, follow the instructions in Chapter 12 to remove the distributor cap and look at the points. Do they open and close when you bump the starter? If not, adjust them so that they do and try to start the car again. If there's still no action, your points could be oxidized or fouled by a bit of grease or oil. Bump the engine so that the points are closed, and insert the tip of a screwdriver, nail file, matchbook cover, or feeler gauge between them to rub the point surfaces and eliminate the oxidation or dirt. If you still can't get the engine to turn over, move on to the next section. Replacing the rotor, condenser, and points If you've kept your old rotor, points, and condenser in the trunk of your car because they were still working when you replaced them during a tune-up, you can use these parts to try to find and correct your problem. First, following instructions in Chapter 12, try replacing the rotor with the old one. If that doesn't work, replace the condenser. If that doesn't work, replace the points. Don't worry about adjusting the point gap; as long as the points open and close, the engine will run. Part IV: Dealing with On-the-Road Emergencies. I've been told that the most frequent cause of engine failure on vehicles with old-style, non-electronic distributors is improper lubrication of the cam when the points were changed. Because of this, the little rubbing block gets worn down, and then, even when the block rests on the cam lobe, there's not enough surface to force the points apart. That's why, if you have a nonelectronic ignition system, it's important to check your dwell every 5,000 miles and replace points at every tune-up (see Chapter 12 for instructions). If you've checked everything out and your vehicle still won't go, you're probably going to have to wait for help. Sometimes part of your engine has given out. Sometimes it's the transmission. If that's the case, you may be saying good-bye to Old Faithful. On the bright side, you usually have plenty of warning before a car gives up the ghost. Of course, if you haven't checked and maintained your vehicle properly — if you've ignored the warnings, the knockings, the smoke from the tailpipe, the hesitations and the other symptoms I cover in Chapter 20 — well, you asked for it. Even the happiest, most beautifully tuned vehicle overheats occasionally. If you find yourself in stop-and-go traffic on an extremely hot day, chances are that your car's dashboard temperature indicator will rise or a warning light will come on. Here's how to help your vehicle regain its cool: At the first sign of overheating, shut off your air conditioner and open your windows. Doing so decreases the load on the engine and helps it cool off. If you continue to overheat, turn on the heater and blower. Doing so transfers the heat from the engine to the interior of the car. (This does wonders for your overheated engine but very little for you!) If you're stopped hi traffic and the temperature gauge is rising, shift into Neutral and rev the engine a little. Doing so makes the water pump and the fan speed up, which draws more liquid and air through the radiator. The increased air and liquid circulation helps cool things off. Try not to ride your brakes. Crawl along slowly, on little more than an idle, rather than moving up and then braking repeatedly. Brake drag increases the load on the engine and makes it heat up. If traffic is crawling, move up only when the gap between you and the vehicle in front of you gets too wide. .Chapter 21: What to Do If Your Car Drops Dead or Won't Start AAJ * If you think that your vehicle is about to boil over, drive to the side of the road, open the hood, and sit there until things cool off. Remember, don't open the radiator cap under these circumstances, and if your engine has boiled over, don't add water until the engine is quite cool again. If you must add water when the engine is still a little warm, add the water while the engine is running in Neutral. Follow the instructions at the beginning of this chapter to park where you can safely get out and open your hood. Then, to avoid the possibility of burning yourself, follow the instructions in Chapter 14 for opening a radiator pressure cap and adding liquid to the system safely. Sometimes very hot weather causes vapor lock, which makes your car stop

Overheating When It Isn't Hot Outside Although hot weather is the most common cause of overheating, many other factors can cause the same problem.
